e3.gamespot.com/press-conference/?press_conf=1The live stream in case someone decides they wanna watch live too, starts in one hour after this post I'll be commenting on the results here, I'm excited though, I'm expecting this particular conference to blow the other two away. I mean I just read about Nintendo's. I wanted to watch that one, but I woke up too late for it. But Zelda sounds interesting, although I was sorta hoping there would have been an option to play with the standard controller, and it's interesting that they would bust out a Goldeneye sequel, I think it's an interesting move. We'll see how that works out. Other than that though, I wasn't too impressed. For Sony, here's what I wanna see: - GT5, I really hope they get it out sometime this year, it's been a long wait, almost 6 years since GT4 already, but I'm expecting insanely awesome results from such a long wait, hopefully they can meet that standard - The Last Guardian, duh - Verses XIII, just to see if it's any better than regular XIII - Details on the PS Move In addition, I kinda wanna to see some pretty awesome suprises here that will increase Sonys Momentum into the future, like for example, maybe MAYBE, a PSP2, because that would be insane, and knock the wind out of the sails of 3DS, since it would be an insane suprise. Also, I wanna see Move support for a couple of new games, perhaps cross platform titles, like Metal Gear Rising, could you imagine holding the power of the HF Blade in the palm of your hand with a glowy little nub on top? Awesome. I also hear there should be a new Infamous, and perhaps a new Twisted Metal, the latter I doubt a lot though. Also, I wanna see some of the new Tetsuya Nomura projects, Square always busts out something awesome each year, so I wanna see something totally mind blowing come from that. Another title I wanna see more about is Resident Evil PSP. Also, I wanna see maybe one more new exclusive title, not only because we're seeing a lot of sequels, but PS3 may need it with the loss of the COD fishing extras, because every system needs at least a small faggot fanbase. Overall I'm already expecting this to be the best conference of the three as far as new content and big suprises. We shall see in 45 minutes.

OK, That is what it looks like to kill your competition in a blaze of glory
OK, before I get started, I can officially say Kevin Butler and Marcus the black kid are my new heroes.
Also, That was about 50 billion times better than the other two press conferences, insane.
First, the 3D stuff is awesome, I'm glad that they have so much 3D support. Also, I;m suprised about how many games support the Move, and how cheap it is. Very impressive.
The PSP commercials look so awesome too, I can't wait to see Macus be the man. God, he's like my long lost brother. No really exiting new releases for PSP though, other than ones we already knew about.
Also, and this is the one I bet will be Pichubro's second favorite news from E3, Portal 2 will be on PS3, and will be better on PS3, with Move support I think.
Also, that sorcery game looked gay in the begining, but so awesome by the end.
GT5 made me almost lose Bowel control on my neighbor's bed, that looks unbeileveable. NOVERMBER 2ND! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Infamous 2 looks interesting, Infamous 1 was pretty fun, so I bet this one will be as well.
And the huge shocker, the one that blew my mind. They are bringing back Twisted Metal. I like lost it when they showed the guy with Clown shoes walking up, after them talking about blowing stuff up in cars, And then Sweet Tooth drives onto the stage, it was like "WHAAAAAAAAT?!" I can't beileve they are bringing that back, thats just insane.
I'm really disappointed about no new footage of TLG though, I was waiting to see it the whole time. Maybe it will be later today or tommarow or something. I'm also sorta unhappy about Playstation Plus, thats a very slippery slope, it makes you no better than Xbox, and soon enough it may become that way, I'm very disappointed, and I hope that doesn't last at all. Also, I kinda wanted to see PSP2, but no dice there. And I wanted to see more games for PSP, but it they made up for it in main console content.
Overall, that press conference blew away the others. Theres a lot of stuff I didn't comment on, but it was just like unbeileveable, this is just my initial reaction. So much stuff got announced, and so many exclusives, PS3 blew the other systems away.

Also, I wish I had a video of Kevin Butler's epic speech, it was awesome. Or the Marcus commercials

Oh yeah, I saw Marcus and I was like "this kid's gotta be good; he's working with Kevin Butler of all people!" and I was not disappointed. Such great videos, and of course Butler on stage was awesome as well. And yes! Portal 2! That's going to be so awesome to play. Such a great puzzle game with such a good sense of humor. Can't wait. Sorcery did look interesting, and it's mainly what sold me on the Move. There's just something about it that I really liked. Can't put my finger on it though... Infamous 2 also piped my interest, but I'm going to beat Infamous 1 before I buy the sequel. I've never owned Twisted Metal, but I've played it at a friend's house before and I definitely wasn't expecting that today. No better way to end a show than to bring Sweet Tooth onto the stage. Hahaha And as I said in the other thread, I'm definitely getting AC: Brotherhood. Cannons, Multiplayer, better horse combat, more Ezio? I'm sold. However... Uncle Mario... RIP.

Yeah, he was brilliant. I'm convinced Kevin Butler is my father and Marcus is my brother. I love both of them, they are just so hilarious.
Yeah! It looks amazing on PS3 as well, like how clean movement is and all. Also, I love how sad the fat guy looked that it was cross platform. And I loved "Kevin Butler just introduced himself to me backstage as 'VP of Sharpening Things'" Ha ha ha ha
Just the innovative nature made it look good. The actual story premise is gay, but the methods of casting and combining spells is simply incredible. It really was a great demonstrative piece. Another thing I love is just how many games support the Move, like how they are building it into games that previously didn't have it, like RE5 and Heavy Rain. Simply incredible.
Yeah, I know! That did look good. That stun rod looks badass!
Yeah, me neither, I only played it at a friends house too. I definatly thought that series was dead, but when they started talking about vehicle combat in the commercial, then you see the clownshoes, it was like WHAT!? Its some major firepower in Sony's corner. The Helicopers and Motorcycles definately sold me as well.
Yeah! That game looks amazing, could you imagine us playing multiplayer. All that stuff is so awesome. And I think I saw one of the guys straight up pull out a switchblade, it was badass! That looks like it's gonna be really fun.
I love the Move though, just all the possible features it offers to enhance gameplay, as well as the fact that most of the games look to have the option to choose, which I love, plus the fact that the Move spesific games are going to be extra cheap, starting at $39.99, which is incredibly genius. It really kicks Wii in the balls since most of their games are half as interactive or fun, and all cost $60. Yeah, screw that.
I love all the blatent shots at the competition too, like most of Kevin Butler's speech, with the whole "One important feature on the move is the fact that it has Buttons, which is very important, if you wanna play platforms, or shooters, or basically anything that doesn't involve bouncing a big red ball." Simply brilliant.

Well the first Portal was also multi-platform, but it sounds like if you want all the good DLC, you need to play it on the PS3. I loved the whole "you monster" quote, like it was the player's fault for destroying the insane, deathtrap of a computer AI system. Hahaha Heavy Rain is a very easy game to see with the Move; it probably plays better with the Move. I would love to assassinate a target together, Mario. It'd be a really awesome experience! Arg, someone either needs to give you a 60GB, or Sony needs to develop a new PS3 model that goes back to backward capability. Though at what the guy said at the conference: "PS2 is still an interest to us." means that backward capability is not in the near future, or possibly ever. Dang. The PS2's over 10 years old; apparently Sony won't let their baby die a quick death like Microsoft's Xbox. But I'll shall await the day where we can kill an Italian Templar for the Brotherhood together! ;D

Yeah, I love the look of that trailer. It just so clean looking. And the first one was cross-platform? I didn't know that. It just looks like such a good game, dispite it being awful FPS controls. I love the music and the voice as well.
Yeah, definately, that is a perfect game for the move, no doubt, I bet the new DLC will have major Move support. It will be perfect. I wanna see pleanty of other new games use it well too. And I definately would love to see Quantic Dream's next work utilize the Move well too.
Yeah! I know! Someone should give me a 60 GB. That would be nice. I wanna buy one sometime this summer depending on how well buying a car goes. I know PS2 does have interest, since it does still sell suprisingly well. I think Reverse compatibility though won't be a concern for them, since it would be expensive. I wish they could do it at some point once they phase out PS2 later on. It will take a while though. I will indeed be happy on the day we can assassinate together. And play LBP2 as well, we can play each other's levels. And other people's levels.

Hahaha yeah. I love how the credits song "Still Alive" was actually true. The computer will never die, and the player will forever be the lab rat. Oh I'm horrible at LBP levels, trust me. My attention span doesn't last long enough for me to make something I want to show the world. hahaha

I also love the whole "I hope we can put aside our differences" thing, since like, it's more publically for PS3 now, and since that developer guy seems like an Xbox advocate, it seems very appropreate. I like the look of it.
I have the attention span for it, I just never really can get an idea flowing the way I want it to, since I don't organize my ideas that well, and I always feel limited by the capabilites of the game, at least in PSP I did, since the design tools weren't as intuitive as the PS3 version. I've just never really had the chance to design for PS3 for too long to actually make anything. I think if we worked together on a level, we could create something incredible. It would be awesome. Especially in number 2, where you can design full games of any kind. If we came up with an idea together, it would be so awesome.

Well I can see why you would be better at making levels, since you design your own original games and I don't. I actually feel the process kinda hard and definitely time-consuming, though I've found some of the good user-created levels and they are just awesome. So I know if I spend a good chunk of a day, I could make something special, but I'm a more linear kind of player who likes things given to me. Creating my own stuff with almost unlimited capability is a bit much for me. hahahaha I wish I still knew how to do flash though. I thought my game about my dragon shooting flames at bananas was cool.

Well, yeah I guess, but everyone has something to offer. Anyone can find a place in designing a game, there are just so many ways of expressing one's creativity in a game. You have a gift in visual expression, so I think you really could be great at designing different visual sets, or maybe advertising even. That unlimited options thing is really daunting though, if you approach without a plan. If you plan knowing what assets you have to utilize, then it doesn't feel like something scary, it feels empowering. I think you could get it with the right guidence. We could do it. I think you could create if you could find your vision. Something you wanted to express.
HA HA HA HAH A. Yeah, I remember you talking about that, I wish I could play it. It sounds awesome. I wish you still knew flash too, so you could help me learn it.

I guess so. I haven't played LBP in about a month though, so I'll have to get back into it. And get some more DLC. Yeah, I made it for my 8th grade computer class, so I couldn't save it on a website or a flash drive. And it was pretty hard because I had to make the whole game's code by scratch, and since I haven't used HTML or C++ since then, I've forgotten how to do it. It's sad, but I don't have a flash, dreamweaver or photoshop program to help me remember either.

Awwww, I wanna play PS3 LBP so bad. And yeah, I'm gonna buy Game of the Year edition when I get LBP, so I can have most of the packs for free with the game, then buy the ICO and SotC packs if nessesary. The MGS4 DLC pack is fun in multiplayer.
Aww man, I wish I could have seen your skill. And you knew C++? I'm going to college to learn that, so if you got a reminder, maybe you could start Teaching me some starter stuff so I could have an edge in school. They have tutorials for C++ on Youtube, I can't learn from them, but maybe they can remind you how to do it.

I bought the Game of the Year edition, where on the box it said "$30 worth of downloadable content included!" and I bought the game for $30 (plus tax) so I didn't what I really buying, the game or the DLC. Hahaha
Just knew the basic, basic, basic stuff. Enough for my teacher to say, "this is why I want you guys to use HTML instead." and so we did. I seriously only remember HTML codes to edit fonts, and briefly remember the code to tell the game what buttons on the keyboard do what thing. Like left arrow key moves the dragon left and so for.

So what did it have anyway, did it at least have the MGS levels? Or anything else?
Hmm, facinating. It seems tough, since I only know really basic coding for Game Maker, and do the rest through the interface. C++ seems really tough for the actual code stuff, and HTML seems like a messy version of forum code or something.

|
Post by pichubro on Jun 16, 2010 1:27:19 GMT -5
Well, you get the MGS costumes (and other costumes) but since I haven't actually finished the game yet, I don't know if you get the levels. Likely though.
Yeah, computer code is a strange and interesting thing.

The levels you can access at any time like User created levels, I forget how you do it though, I know I played them before my neighbor beat it, because he never beat it
Yeah, it really is. It's like instructing a child, because you have to literally tell it everything, leave anything to chance, and the computer will mess it up. I bet you would be good at GML, since it is super easy compared to C++ and stuff. You could probably create a deep sequal to Dragon killing Bananas game thing. Give it like a plot line and complex characters and stuff

Post by pichubro on Jun 16, 2010 1:38:53 GMT -5
Well, I guess I'll have to go find those levels tomorrow. The hype of E3 is gone now until another cycle around the sun. I once forgot a closing bracket in my HTML and my game had a very strange event where my bananas were spinning for no reason; when I really only wanted them to spin when I hit them. I thought they were going on the offensive or something. Hahaha God I wish I still had Flash. There were points during the school year where I would be done with a project days before it was due so I would make random Flash mini-movies during my free time. That's probably where my creativity with movie clips spawned from, since I can't draw and my mini-movie characters were usually simple shapes or images I traced from the internet (yay double layering) hahaha

Indeed indeeeed. I love wearing the Raiden sword belts with the Mario looking hat from the Gardens
Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah, I love when weird glitches are funny, like my superhero flying enemies in Impact, or at one point in early development when Presler would try to break a box, and every single box in the room would shatter at the same time, or the one time when he tried to break the box and when he hit it enough times, he shattered. I think you could be a really good cutscene director though, you should go to college for Film or 3D Animation or something and then design cutscene animations, You'd probably be great at that, since your videos are good, you could set the scene very well and match it to good music.
|

Post by pichubro on Jun 16, 2010 1:58:59 GMT -5
Hahaha those are funny glitches. I never thought of that. I've thought before that creating a video game would be fun, but being a game director or cutscene director never crossed my mind. Or maybe just being a translator for Japanese games. There's tons of college offering video game design and digital art now, and I don't have any other majors in mind... I'll think about it.

Ha ha ha, Yeah, at the time they drove me insane, but now that the project is complete, I find it funny
I'm telling you, you have visual talent, You know what it looks like to tell a story without words, and know how to express with just pictures and music. I think with the right practice and the right major, you would be incredible for this. Just make sure to study film, like Kojima did. The only reason I'm not is because this particular course has a very balanced curriculum, and I might get another degree in film or art after I finish this course to get a better focus, because not a single great designer went to college for 2 game design degree. I think Film would be great for you, since your already good at videos as is, if you put those skills towards your own film pieces, you would end up with good results. I just think you need someone to give you the ideas, and in the position of cutscene designer, the Lead Designer would give you all the ideas, you would just have to convey them.

Kojima has tons of dialogue at parts though, when compared to Ueda or even Shigeru (for games like Pikmin) so I think everyone is different when telling stories. I think being a game writer would be nice too, since I've always had novels in my mind, but I've never been able to express them properly because I always thought of them from a movie stand-point. I left too much to the reader's imagination for my stories to have any depth or meaning. Or course, I could be like many people and create Indy games like Flower and other surprisingly good titles. If I had to choose a big name company to work with it'll probably be either Ubisoft or Team ICO, though the latter seems much more exclusive and closed to most developers just off the streets.

|
Post by Mario the black knight on Jun 16, 2010 11:37:09 GMT -5
Well yeah, but the only reason he's so dialogue heavy is he's an insane movie buff. The film class would give you the means to create your own scenes that could could then arrange the way you do. You could do the scenes well without dialogue, although you could have a hybred with nessesary dialogue mixed in well. And I figure you would be a good story writer, with the right group of people to bounce ideas off of, you could perfect your ideas.
I think I know a good indy group you could join. They are called Team Black. They are awesome. It's a rag tag team of gaming mercenaries like the A Team. They are still mad underground though
Though personally, if I could develop for a real company, I would try to find a way to work 1st party for Sony, like Team ICO or Polyphony Digital. Team Black developing for Sony Computer Entertainment of America, aww yeah
