We have like half those games listed, but in this list we add detail, like spesific titles, not series
Although, we've barely added anything from the fighter genre, so some additions to that aspect are good

Yeah, good idea, thats what I've done for the most part with a few exceptions, either games I've played myself, or watched someone else play in their entirity that I can judge aspects based on their feedback

So I played Symphony of the Night today, and I remember why thats so high on my list. It's just such a good game. Great Soundtrack, probably the best useage of sprites in any game I've ever seen, deep gameplay, truely the first real game to mix the RPG and Action styles effectively, and one of the best, second only to Kingdom Hearts as far as gameplay is concerned. Simply amazing. I really need to get all of these games together that are on my top 10 and play them one right after another so I can figure out a proper order.

that game is the shit. now i really wanna play it again. the thing is its really so simple, just a regular side scrolling action game, but its just so so awesome. i remember the weapons and stuff being really cool, and the bosses being great, and just really unique and interesting levels/areas. i doubt my old copy still works though.

Yeaaah, the one we're playing is a digital copy on PS3.
But yeah, it has a simple complexity, because theres just so much to do, and all the different weapons you can get, and different combinations and stratagies, and the level up system is actually good and well balanced. And the bosses are so great, very original. I love the one boss who attacked with crows, and the one phoenix boss. And of course the doppleganger. And the music was incredible.

I'm gonna add Valkyria Chronicles, only because there aren't enough Tactical RPGs out there and it's a pretty good game. If I wasn't stuck on a mission, I'd be playing it right now, but that giant evil tank of destruction scares me. The best part of the game is the strategy aspect of it, and I think for this mission I could either make a counter-clockwise turn across the map, keeping ahead of the tank, or end swerving behind it and throwing grenades into it's radiators. But then it might gun my scouts down... That machine gun in the back has a 180 degree range.

Wow, that certainly sounds interesting.
I was playing a stratagy game on the move the other day called Ruse, it was difficult though, only because by the time I have my base fully established, they already have tanks rolling. the fact that I'm about 90 percent unsure on how to play also is an issue....
I'd love to get good at it though, I just need to learn how to play, then I can stratagise like crazy and blow them away.

I've heard of Ruse! Is it that hard to learn how to play?

I only tried it for like 10 minutes, but still, I went in without a tutorial or anything, so I didn't have time to learn. I wish I had though, I could have been decent at it. The move makes it so easy though, at least as far as map navigation is concerned

You tried to play a strategy game without doing the tutorial? Hahahaha

I dunno! I thought it couldn't be too hard! That was a true mistake though.
I'll perhaps play it again someday, if my neighbor wants to sit through it again.

So Sonic CD is much better than I remember. Probably the best Sonic game out of the original games, because theres so much more to do than the others, like how much you have to do to beat the game 100%, like the time travel concepts, awesome.

I think I should make a play checklist out of all the listed games here. Take every game and list them numerically in order in the way they were posted, and check off every game I've played so far, so I know how far I've come before I'm ready to start forming the list fully, since I need to play or watch them all before I can start deliberating on the final list.

Additions will constantly be made to this, as it is a living document. It is just basically an active list of possible candidates for the final cut, as well as an active list to show what I have played, watched, and/or own, as such so I can remember and rate everything as it stands, as well as keep track of what I intend to play, have played, or new additions that I need to play in the future. Suggests should continue to come in. Owned or once owned games are noted by a ($), played games are noted with a (%), and watched games(meaning games that I have not directly played due to some objectionable aspect involving gameplay or otherwise to my beilefs, but have watched and stratagied through proxy well enough that I understand the deeper mechanics and aspects of a game that I can rate it fairly), will be noted with a (*)

The battle system has been improved (with a dramatic camera), as well as the presentation. It actually has "cutscenes" now. Plus, the story is a little stronger, though it's still the same Pokemon formula. But it's definitely one of the best looking games on the DS.
Really, the only downside I've found are the new pokemon themselves.

Ah, as a list it's so much easier to see what we've missed. Resident Evil 4 should be labelled as the Wii version, because that it the best version. We should also add Psychonauts, Suikoden 2 and PaRappa the Rapper.

Hmm, I don't know what I think of that. I mean that could be really good or really bad depending on how it actually ends up playing out, as I am a hardcore fundementalist when it comes to Pokemon, sticking to the classic formula and such, but the advancement of technology being used effectively is something I should not go against. As for the stronger story, that kind of bothers me, greater emphisis on story in a Pokemon game could be a fatal mistake, it will be lost on many of the core players (elementary school kids) and if it keeps to the childish base of the previous games, drawing greater emphisis to it could hurt it. Because when it came to the old games, it was hokey at times, but it didn't get in the way, so it was acceptable. The adventure was what you made of it, and thats what made it so amazing. It inspired imagination, and thats someone games need to keep doing. Especially Pokemon.
And I bet they are horrendous. Is it a new region? And can you ever travel back to any of the old regions in it? Every batch after the second was absolutely terrible, like 15 or 20 legendaries and nothing creative among any of them. Even the second wasn't even too great compared to the first, but it was legions better than the terrible filth that is everything that came after.

The story is not overdone... So far. But I think Gamefreak is in a hard position trying to cater to both the old fans who loved the simplicity of the old games and the younger generation who like a little more than just "collect monster and fight 'em" formula. But there's still a charm to Black, I'll give it that.
Probably not. This region is said to be really isolated from the others, which is why you'll see no pokemon from the previous four generations. And the reason the pokemon got so bad is because the old creator left. The guy who made the original 151 pokemon also made the Johto pokemon, but left after that. That's why the first two generations of pokemon look good to us and everything afterwords looks like crap. It's like if Kojima had made the first two Metal Gear games and then just became the producer of the rest afterwards. Every game from Metal Gear 2 on would've been crap.

I added a ton of things that I felt were obvious additions that I wondered why they weren't there the first time. Which version was the most complete? Gamecube was the original, PS2 added the extras, Wii added the motion control. Did Wii have the PS2 extras? Oh yeah, added. Whats Psychonauts, is that like Policenauts?
