Yeah, that is true, I just love having the shows for that life time, I love the fact that Dae Joyoung felt like it was so long, you feel like it's just such an important part of your life because it lasts so long. That connection is so amazing, it makes the show feel so much better. Especially on those weeks where the show was so good it was like, burned into your mind and you can't forget a second of it, and you spend that whole next week like "OH MY GOD, THAT EPISODE WAS SO AWESOME! AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONEAJSKDJAKLJDAL"
But I guess always having something to talk about in this thread is nice, although this schedule makes weekends suck that much more. I liked the wait though. It gave me time to process the previous episodes, like to really kind of go over all the awesome stuff.
Also, 2 HOURS AND 8 MINUTESSSS!!!

Only one hour. God I'll miss this show. But we do still have the bestowing of riches and honors to look forward to afterward.

Indeed, the great ceremony to name the true merit subjects.
This show was good though, although I found it awkward to almost never have a true "good" guy to cheer for, it was just watching who was less bad than anyone else. It was good storytelling though

i liked that, it was unique. plus at any given moment you usually had someone to cheer for. there was jinjae for awhile. yi ui-min was sympathetic at times and was GENERALLY a protagonist until he became corrupt. emperor heejong. etc.
plus i think it made it even better considering you did have one truly good main character, kyung dae-seung. the fact that all other characters succumbed to power but he was the only one to truly care for the people and be loyal to the imperial house made him an even more tragic hero type character.
plus you had the general theme of the show that power corrupts, so it makes sense. i think it worked very well. at this point i have NO idea whether yi soon shin is better. i'll have to watch it again, which of course i will. i wouldnt be surprised if age of warriors came out as my number one korean drama ever. a unique theme, amazing characters, tons of larger and smaller story lines, a huge time span, so much change, etc. it was so good.

Well yeah, I didn't think it was bad, it was just so different from anything I've ever seen. And I did like Kyung Dae Seung a lot. But I'm scheptical to say that it's better than Yi Soon Shin, for me, I even liked Dae Joyoung more. the one downside to the whole no clear heels or faces thing was I never really ever got too attached to anyone, with the way the show was structured, it wasn't as sad to see someone die, most of the time in fact you almost felt like they deserved it. They just didn't do the death scenes as well as Dae Joyoung who fucking rocked them. In my scale, Yi Soon Shin and Dae Joyoung are very VERY close together, and based on tonights ending, it will basically determine just how strong of a lead those two really have. Plus, I'm interested in seeing if Yi Soon Shin will keep it's crown now that I'm more keen to the Korean Drama format. But I have a feeling it will, since it blew my mind even when I barely had a grasp on what was happening.

Oh my god, that had to be one of the best Series Finalies ever. Easily my number 2. EASILY. Goddamn. That summery was the greatest thing ever. And when Fucking Young Choi Choong Hon walked in, OH MY GOD, that was incredible. Just like, they felt like two seperate characters, and all the stuff they said to each other, fucking hell
Also, I love the direct set up for Yi Soon Shin, how they talk about the formation of the Chosun Dynasty, and all that. FUCKING FUCK That was unbeileveable

Oh wow, our lists are very close.
Yeah, as far as laughs, The insane thing Kyung Dae Seung used to do occationally, Where like, he would slowly build into an insane laugh, that would rage on, then he would cry a little, then just start screaming like a madman. He did it way more than once. It was hilarious. Your number 1 is definately number 1.

Top awesome small characters who should have gotten more time:
1. Yi Kyu-bo 2. Mangi or whatever his name was, the leader of the peasant rebellion 3. General Jun 4. The Empress Dowager's main escort. There was this stretch of a few episodes after the rebellion where she stood up to and berated the warriors a lot and it was crazy. 5. The Minister loyal to Heejong who smashed his head against the ground

Honestly, I think they were perfect as far as screen time, but they were awesome small characters so that makes that list perfect

Top 5 plot archs
1. Kyung Dae-seung vs. The Chungs 2. Kyung Dae-seung vs. Huh Seung 3. Hee-jong vs. Choi Coong-hon 4. The chaos right after the rebellion as Yi Ko and Yi Ui-bang vied for power 5. Kyung Dae-seung's conflict with the Royal Court and Imperial House over Dobang activities
damn the more I think about it the more i realize how awesome kyung dae-seung really was. maybe he SHOULD be number one. its just too close. he had a short time in the series relatively, but was SO ridiculously amazing; but yi ui-min was above all else the main character of the series and you saw his complete rise to power.

Plot Archs:
1. Kyung Dae-seung vs. The Chungs 2. Kyung Dae-seung vs. Huh Seung 3. Hee-jong vs. Choi Choong-hon 4. The chaos RIGHT after the rebelion, like when they were trying to like establish control of the Royal seal and name a sucessor and Yi Ui Bang's early reign 5. The "Solid Snake" era of Yi Ui Min, when he was constantly being lied to by the Royal Court, it was like the side plot for the longest time, but it had such awesome moments.
Yeah, the more I think about Kyung Dae Seung, I wanna go with Kyung Dae Seung, and he even was my number one at first, but then I also just thought about some of the awesome Dynamics of Ui Mins character, flips between Heel and Face, and like, all the stuff surrounding his character, then I go back to Kyung Dae Seung, so it's so close. Thats why I note JUST how close it is between those two.

Favorite moments. No real order, just all the moments that have stayed in my mind throughout the entire series:
The death of Yi Ui-min.
Yi Ui-min vs. Kyung Dae Seung at Dobang house. Especially how you just saw the guards get thrown through the gate and Ui-min stepping in, killing a few Dobang soldiers, and saying "I don't want to deal with these fleas! Bring out Kyung Dae-seung!"
When the Emperor ordered Du Kyung-seung to kill Kyung Dae-seung, so Du just marched into Kyung's house, and Kyung ordered them to be left alone and: "General Du, judging my your sword and armor, I assume you have come to take my head." "Your judgment is correct. It is the Emperor's command!' "How could I possibly defy the Emperor ...." First of all it was insanely badass as you can see by the dialogue, and it also was great at demonstrating how Kyung had lost all faith in his ability to change the world, as he would never defy the Emperor but he knew he would never win his trust.
Yi Ko wipping Yi Ui-min and Ui-bang just grabbing the whip and telling him off.
The beginning of the rebellion, when Chung Jung-bu asked Ui-bang to do something, and Ui-bang replied: "Is that an order or a request? If it is a request, I will comply; but if it is an order, I will refuse."
When Muby's assassin hoe broke into the palace to meet Yi U-bang, and when they met she said she was there to take his head, and Ui-bang just walked right up to her and said: "If you've got the guts, be my guest!"
When Yi Ui-bang finally consolidated the rebellion. The old Great Generals had brought troops to attack him, and when they ordered them to "Attack the traitors," Ui-bang said: "Yes! Attack the traitors!" They all turned on the old generals and Ui-bang said, "Haven't you heard, General? All the soldiers in the Imperial City have pledged to follow my cause!" "M-M-MAURRA!?" and Ui-bang smashed them all with his Iron club, before walking into a room where Chung Jung-Bu was waiting for the news that the counter-coup was successful, and walking right up to him and smashing the table with his club while Chung looked on in shock and horror.
I'm tired, I'll add more of these tomorrow.

Yeah, really. I love that so much, I really wish people did that in real life, like, I would pay people to sit at a table and do that at business meetings every time I said something even remotely out of line. I'm convinced the person who came up with that is a legitimate genius with an ASTRONOMICAL IQ

MORE GREAT MOMENTS:
When Du Kyung-seung visited Yi Ui-bang late into his reign over power for a game of that chess-thing they play. Du won, and Aran complimented him on it and Yi Ui-min said Du was the greatest strategist in the Empire, and Du Kyung-seung said: "But on the board I don't have to worry about anything, all the pieces go where I tell them to. Horses don't get scared, soldiers don't desert, and villainous officials do not plan rebellion."
When the old crown Price called in Kyung-seung about how to destroy the Chungs, and he said: "Your Highness, there are only two men in the Empire who can answer your call to justice and destroy the Chungs. Superior General Yi Ui-min in the North ..." "The Archfiend!?" "And the Aldermann of Kyung-ju, Kyung Dae-seung."
I just thought it was so awesome how the Chungs had control of the royal court, the military and had a huge political apparatus to support their power, but Du Kyung-seung was saying that there were two men, who were such INSURMOUNTABLE badasses, that they alone could destroy it all.

Yeah, fucking hell I love those moments, I'll try to add more as I remember them
When Huh Seung is like slaughtering people in the village dispite not wanting to and clearly looking like he hated his orders.
When Choi Choong Hon is deposing Hee Jong, and his Empress comes out and is like: "Do you have any fear for the gods!?" "The gods allowed me to survive to depose The Emperor, so no, I don't fear the gods."
The Scene where Duduel talks to the Spirit of Kyung Dae Seung and he wishes he had risen to the throne and brings on the first mention of the Mongols.
When Duduel tells Choong Hon about his future
When Lotus is talking about how Ui Min has changed, and he's just dancing around with the geisha
Any Du Kyung Seung vs Yi Ui Min battle
Any Du Kyung Seung vs Yi Ui Min one on one dialoge scene
Pretty much every single scene from the episode when Hee Jong tries to kill Choong Hon
The scene in the finalle when Young Choi Choong Hon talks to old Choi Choong hon, just how they really seem like two different characters, and how young Choi Choong Hon acts like he did everything and treats Old Choi Choong Hon like a worthless old man. Just so incredible.
Whenever Yi Ui Bang would straight up just walk up to someone and answer their question with crushing their skull with his IRON CLUB.
I know there are a lot more, I just can't think of them right now, just so much to process
