"How dare you speak that way to the Imperial Guardian! Get out of my sight!" "I couldn't bring myself to drink the tea you poured me, so I will happily oblige."

it reminds me of this awesome story when i think the first emperor of ming was being considered a tyrant by the royal court, so a minister came into the imperial chambers with a coffin, berated the emperor, then said that he expected death and got in the coffin. the emperor was impressed with his courage and spared him.

Yeah, that tea line was just downright balls of steel badass, and just a super high level of amazing. You know a gangsta like Choi Choong Hon couldn't not respect that badassery.
Whattt!?! That is awesome! That is so fucking amazing.

yeah that emperor was pretty crazy in general. he once killed thousands of people in nanjing because he heard that someone from the town said something disrespectful towards him.

Oh wow. Thats pretty terrible. And this was in China? When was this?

china, 1300s. he was the founder of the ming dynasty. he was from a peasant family but during a period of famine and plague he built up a rebel arm and overthrew the mongol yuan dynasty.

So he overthrew the regime set up by Ghengis Khan there? Facinating. At least the idea of Chinese peasents standing a chance against Mongol badasses.
Or wait, thats right, I think the Mongols just subjectgated the Chinese, never directly taking them over. I forget, I read that book a while ago

choi choong-hon showing up like "answer the emperor's question jinjae" was awesome. also giving jinjae the dagger. kinda of a mediocre episode otherwise.

Yeah, the Emperor/Choong Hon/Jin Jae thing was all that really drove the episode, everything else was more of a set up episode.
Yeah, answer the emperors question was awesome, as well as after the emperor left,
"Do you think the Emperor is just trying to drive us apart?" "Just remember the dagger you gave me and what it means."

Awwwwwwww damn
That Soothsayer and his friend are the two most ridiculous characters in recent memory, and not in a good way, they are just weird.
Also, that one guy, Choong Hon's cousin, was that weird nasty corrupt guy from Iron Empress with his weird close together eyes. You know, the bitchy annoying empress' dad.

|
|
Post by tim on Jan 7, 2011 0:02:07 GMT -5
yeah, i noticed that. yeah, the soothsayer and his magic exaggerated mole are kinda annoying. his cousin is just TOO annoying, although it was funny how amused he was tonight. was it so boring back then that people got that excited over eating.
jinjae's dream with duduel was amazing. also how jinjae was contemplating killing choi choong-hon and how he said "I guess this is the price I pay for taking your life, Master Duduel."

Yeaaaah, that is pretty annoying. But you have to think about the options they had to do. Basically, eat, do geishas, sleep, or die of some diesese. Thats all there was to do back then. Plus, tons of people starved to death back then, so it must have been exciting to have the option to not only not starve to death, but to eat a lot of good fancy food.
Yeah, that was amazing. I like Duduels magical powers better than annoying mole guy's. They aren't annoyingly exaggerated. And yeah, that was pretty awesome too.

I just read that apparently, Dae Joyoung was also Wang Ghun. The same guy plays them both. DAMN. Also, Duduel was apparently in Iron Empress, not sure as who though

I bet thats their tactic to keep you watching!
They'll have to run something, they would be literally insane not to. Like, crazy insane. They primarily advertise the fact that they sell Korean Drama(yi soon shin) DVDs in their little commercials, if they stopped showing them, chances are they would literally go out of business, since Korean Dramas are what kept the station alive. Do you think anyone besides Korean Drama fans and that one science guy Hank the black guy Emailed their congressmen when public television was going to lose it's funding? I highly doubt it.

daaaamn. choi choong-hon does a lotta things, but fuckin around aint one of em
it was even more interesting in how it got across more subtleties of his character. if it was anyone else he surely would have killed them, but he spared jinjae. you can see he's still torn between becoming increasingly power hungry but still wanting to be devoted to the cause and not killing his family to keep his power. but he still had to send a message, so damn.

Yeah, thats for sure, dizam.
Thats still goddamn brutal. He really is battling it though, I love how one minute he contemplates overthrowing the regime, the next he's chatting with the emperor, and wondering if he really is a villan or not. But damn, the casualties of this internal conflict is somethin fierce!

Someone's Paranoidddddddddd!!!
Also, where the fuck were Choi Choong Hon's hundreds of private guards when a dude walks in with a giant vat of shit to throw on people
And why would the empress warn Lotus of all people!? he would have came in, he has private meetings with the emperor ALL THE TIME! Why would it be different this time?
And it's a shame Jinjae wasn't a real character..

HA HA HA HA HA, Yeah, I was like once I saw the reaction of the people when he took the cover off, I was like "I think that might be shit." Then he started throwing it, and he said that, and I was like "Yeah, thats shit." That scene was amazing and ridiculous though
And yeah, really, she wasn't in the room when he gave the order, why the fuck would she know, and why the fuck would she tell LOTUS. Like, hasn't she been watching the show for the last 50 episodes to know shes the most triflin bitch this side of Woobong.
And yeah, daaaaaaaamn indeeed
