I mean.....it's tough, because Macs hardware is overpriced, but not terrible. The hardware itself is fine and well put together, but like, literally twice as expensive as it should be. And usually a bit underpowered.
OS wise....I mean, MacOS sucks, but it's STILL better than Windows 10. At least it's Unix based. At this point I am equally unlikely to run Windows or Mac, but at least on Mac you have access to a proper Unix terminal and such. I just hate that you need to have the silly Apple ID to get any software.
You being an old person, and mostly technologically illiterate, it's probably fine. You only really use your computer for the internet at this point anyway.

i bought the standard new macbook air and it really wasn't expensive. $899 before taxes and such. cheaper than similarly spec'd PCs from dell and hp etc.

A lot of people like the scissor switch keys they use in their keyboards. My Vaio had them, it felt great to type on.
I just find their trackpads infuriating.
Speaking of overpriced laptops, I'm hoping I can get one of my own soon to replace the old Vaio. I miss the advantages of having a mobile computer.
