This is the first time I'm really following an election and I have a question... why does New York's polls close at 9 PM EST when all the other states end at 7?

OK, so it looks bad, but only because the south reports first. So Romney is about 20 points ahead, but it's looking pretty brilliant in Ohio, like double digits lead good, North Carolina is ultra close, like in the thousands close. Nothing coming out of PA yet so far. Arizona, NY, and so many more voting closes in about 15 minutes. By 11 it'll look much better, especially when the west coast reports.

It might be because of the storm, or because of them having NYC, I dunno for sure though. It's exciting to follow your first election, isn't it? :nigga:

In 2008, my parents had the election results on TV but I would only look at it every once and a while. I kept looking at florida because after the 2000 election I assumed florida was the most important state to get and after I saw that Obama got it I had 99% certainty that he was going to win.

AZ almost always leans republican. Too many old people.
56.2% (662,478) for Romney 42.3% (498,403) for Obama
Flagstaff's county: 53.6% for Obama Phoenix's county: 56.9% for Romney
See what I mean when people want AZ to split into two states? They are almost always opposite politically. The Phoenix area has population on its side.
These stats are for 30% of the votes in, though about half of million votes won't be counted until tomorrow because there were voting issues.

Nah, it's more like the right thing. If anything, it's a balancer, for the toothless hillybilly hicks in all the deep south states and their biggest weapon, texas. Notice that the states that the rich people actually live in didn't even vote for Romney, he literally only appealed to idiots. It's down to the point that you literally know where the least educated and most bigoted people in the nation by looking at the electoral map right now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZof_XMQFFgThose in the minority like you should feel like this ^ Also, all this talk that Ohio isn't quite won yet from the Romney people is just childish. He has clearly been bested, just give it up. Even if he doesn't win Ohio, he still has leads in Colorado, Nevada, Virginia, and Florida, even if they are small.

303 to 206!?!?!?!
Wow, Barrack KILLED IT! I think he got EVERY swing state this time. I think he killed Mitt harder than he killed McCain! AWESOME!
Also, Jesus, they just need to take away Florida's right to vote, why do people consider that an important state, honestly, they never call! The last like, 4 elections they've ALWAYS ended in a tie! They don't EVER get called, long after the election is over! They should just make florida worth 1 point and no one should campaign there, theres really nio point, they don't effect anything. Seriously, they are all old people, if your too old to drive, too old to poop for yourself, your too old to hold up our electoral process and shouldn't be allowed to vote on important elections.

www.google.com/elections/ed/us/resultsFlagstaff and Tucson vote blue, everywhere else always votes red. EVERY TIME People want to somehow have the state be divided while keeping Phoenix and the surrounding areas together, while uniting Flagstaff, Apache County and Tucson together... It'd be weird a bit.

So wait, the Navajo Nation can vote in our elections? And they voted Romney!? Why in the world would they do that!? I'm assuming Navajo County includes Navajo nation, I don't know why else they would call it that otherwise. It was pretty close though.
You have much cooler county names, ha a ha ha, Coconino, I like that, ha ha ha. Your counties are HUGE too. We have like 67 counties here, you have like 11, ha ha ha ha. And our states are pretty comparable in size.
Which one did your vote TECHICALLY count for? Coconino or Maricopa?
I'm glad Montgomery County went blue, I guess the young population here outnumbered the toothless hics and Ron Paul weirdos.
My brother didn't vote, but used his status to get other people to do so and made sure everyone knew you didn't need an ID to vote thanks to provisions put forth by the dems here. His one rapper friend made a scene at one of the voting places because they tried to ID him and he made sure they let him vote, which was good, I'm glad he did it, he contacted my brother to make sure he got the word out to everyone.

Eh... The Navajo Nation doesn't take up those whole counties en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navajo_Nation more likely the American towns there voted that way. Haha yeah, most of the counties are names after the tribes living there: Apache, Coconino, Maricopa, Yavapai, Navajo, Mohave, Pima, Pinal, and Yuma are all tribes. Cochise was an Apache Native American leader. Santa Cruz and Gila are named after rivers in the counties, Graham is named after Mt. Graham. Greenlee was named after a western pioneer and La Paz was named after a boom town on thr Colorado River. Yay, arizona history class... Most states in the west have very few counties compared to the east, we probably had less reason to divide people up politically. Also, I think Arizona is bigger than PA. xD Maricopa.

Ahh, indeed, I thought that was the case.
Wow. Thats facinating. I figured only the Navajo, Apache, and Hopi were left there, not all those other tribes. It really is facinating that you know all that, ha ha ha. I have no clue about the county names around here. And I guess it's because maybe it also has to do with how much open space there is too in your state, ha ha ha. I could beileve it, they are pretty close though I think.
Awww, I was hoping you had at least won your county.

Oh no, we have dozens of tribes out here. Navajo is just the largest group.
I didn't expect to win my county. I just voted because it would've been cool to win. xD

Interesting. Do they all have their own unique reservations like the Navajo nation, with their own solverignty and such?
Awwww, yeah, that would have been great! It is important to vote either way, because it could end up making a difference, and even if not, your voice is heard.

Most have their own reservation, yes. You'll notice that the Navajo reservation has a whole in it, that's the Hopi reservation.
