You CAN play online though? I could train with you, although I have the full version. I could download the demo though if nessesary, and we could train together. I'd go easy on you

I think so. There was no option to play single player anyway.
Hahaha, thanks. I've never been good at fighting games.

Ha ha ha, yeaaah, single player is too hard anyway, ha ha ha
Yeah, if you handed me a fighting game about 6 months ago, I would have lost garenteed. To anybody. Ha ha ha h ha
You play a lot of strategy games, so once you learn to get into that fighting game mind, you'll be good I think

Maybe. Strategy games give me time to think. With fighting games you have to be more on the ball.

Yeah, thats the key, But once you play for a while, you get into this mindset, where you can see oppertunities that only present themselves for fractions of a second that feel extra long. You just get into a place where you almost feel like your counting time in frames instead of seconds. You'll see yourself be open for like, half a second, and it'll feel like an eternity. You'll also at the same time be able to predict the outcome of certain exchanges and stuff. Once your in the mindset, you'll get it. It quickens up your response time to a lot of things.
I'll explain it all to you if they have mic support over the demo.
Although training on this game won't even remotely prepare you for the style of MVC 3, it'll get you used to the directional combinations at least. Learning how to do the analog stick combos is so helpful, and fast when you get used to it, and much more graceful and practical than trying to use the D pad.

Mmmm, sounds good. I don't think mics work on demos, that would be a part of the reason why people would by the full game I think. Hahahaha
Yeah, everyone's been saying that MvC3 plays differently from the past two games.

Yeah, probably, I hope they do work though, so we can do this. I'm worried that demo online support might not exist now, they did that with Phantasy Star Portable 2's online servers.
Oh yeah, different than any fighter I've played. Instead of using Low Kick, High Kick, Low Punch, High Punch, etc, they use Weak attack, medium attack, strong attack, and special attack. Thats tough to get used to. But maybe you may find it easier. I may need to customize the controls though, the X button is the Special attack button, which is hard to get used to. I do love how they simplified the character switch function though, instead of having to hold two face buttons together, which failed a lot, you have to hold one of the coresponding assist buttons, which makes so much more sense.

I guess we'll find out. Hahaha
Yeah, a kid brought in his strategy guide for MvC3 to school today and I was able to glace at it since he sat right next to me, and the controls seemed simple enough, albeit probably having a slight learning curve. But I guess I could just mash the controller old-school style. Hahaha

Definately, Hah a ha
Yeah, they are super easy, especially compared to SSFIV and MVC2. Very simple combinations. You just have to get used to some basic analoge stick motions, like the quarter rotation, and the zig zag as I call it. If you can do those two, you can do basically anything. Getting the speed down is the other thing, but it becomes second nature over time. I just sat and practiced the motions for a while when I was practicing the moves in the begining. And Haha ha ha, once you get used to actually applying stratagy to matches, you'll find it works SO much better. And you'll actually feel good about winning matches, not being like "Oh wow, that worked!?"

Man, I'm slow at analog sticks. Curse my button mashing ways. Hahahaha
I think my main three is going to finally be decided as Ammy, Dante and Morrigan until we find out who the DLC characters will be. Then I'll probably switch out Morrigan.

Ha ha h hah a, yeah, it's a tough habit to break. You'll improve over time. I wish MVC 2 had the trial/mission modes that SSFIV and MVC 3 have. Basically it teachs you how to do and combo moves effectively. Thats a good way to start out and get a feel for a character. The farther you can get in their trial mode, the better you end up being with them. Then I just practice a ton in training mode. It takes diligence, but it's worthwhile.
The first two DLC are RE5 Jill and Shorma Goriath or something like that, the bubble gum looking guy from MVC 2. I find just randomly replacing the 3rd character over time ends up helping you not only get used to the game, but also to help you find your perfect team.

Yeah, I guess I'll be spending my first few hours making sure I get most of the combos down and THEN start fighting people.
I hope they add Leon, only because he has epic wrestling moves that Chris lacks. The first time I saw Leon do that in RE4 both surprised and delighted me. Hahahaha

Yeah, I hope we get the game around the same time, then we'll be at about equal level so we can train against each other and both learn at the same speed, it's way more fun that way. Definately though, just go though and do peoples missions, you'll almost never be able to do them all right off the bat, but in time while learning and practicing, you'll get at least close.
Oh yeah, definately, plus, he's more acrobatic, like with his crazy kicks and handsprings and such. His style would be more martial arts and knife fight focused compared to Chris who just uses a ton of guns. And the first time I saw Leon pop a German Suplex on those robed Ganados, me and my brother freaked out, we thought it was a reward for filling the HP gauge all the way to 100%. We thought it was so awesome.

Hahahaha I thought I did something wrong when I first did it. Leon was in a doorway so I thought maybe he just didn't have enough room to spin around.
Ashley could do that suplex move as well in a glitch on the Gamecube version only, when she slammed the door in a Ganado's face to stun them. It's hilarious.

Post by Mario the black knight on Feb 19, 2011 3:24:46 GMT -5
Ha ha ha, yes, because a suplex inside a doorway would be easier than lifting one leg, Ha ha h ah
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?! I've never done either of those things!

Post by pichubro on Feb 19, 2011 3:39:14 GMT -5
Hahahaha yep. And randomly learning said suplex is something all Americans must do when they visit Spain. You know that part of the game where you play as Ashley and you can throw lamps at the Ganadoes? Use the door instead and press A. You get this amazing glitch. Hahahaha Makes me sad that Capcom fixed the glitch in all other versions of the game though. This is the only redeemable quality for Ashley.

AWESOME. I think perhaps that might spread to all of Europe. Colby had to learn how to do it when he went to Germany. Then again, it is the German Suplex........
Ohhhhhh, it's a Gamecube thing, Indeeeed. I only have the PS2 edition, but DAMN, thats crazy! And she even has her own voice clip, as if they made that intentionally for her to have, Ha ha ha ha. I;d think that would be hilarious to see in the plate armor

Guess who just bought themselves an early birthday present? I love playing as Dante and Ammy, though Ammy's hyper kinda screws things up when they combo together because then Dante tends to miss most of his shots. Hahahaha And Ammy's ending is very strange. Hahahaha The game's still really fun though. Totally skipped out on homework to play it.

WHAT?!
Good for you!!
AWESOME!
Yeah, they don't mesh for their combo. If you string together their combos though, thats where the magic is. You definately want to have practice, particularly Ammy. Heres a particular trick that will help you, to trigger a single player's Hyper, theres typically a combo that requires hitting two attack buttons and a directional imput. The R2 button acts as 2 similtanious attacks, so just putting in the combo, then pressing that instead of two face buttons will help you hit your hyper with only one character instead of 3, especially if you wanna chain together 3 one after another.
Yeah, Ammy's ending is odd... It's like, I literally have no idea what was happening. Also, How about that Galactus? Crazy.
Awesome though, good for you!
I think my third might end up being Arthur, I like using him. Also, have you figured out how to switch weapons and stuff with Ammy? Every time you change weapons, your moves change, which is very very helpful.

Yeah, I kinda figured out the Hypers through trail and error, I just can't seem to pull off Veil of Mist... But I've become pretty good at the Power Slash and Bloom. Obviously, she's off fighting dinosaurs! Or something... I noticed that Issun first called her "Ammy" and then "Ama" in the second part. The translators were probably switched out half-way I guess, and it's technically not a translation error, since in the Japanese version of Okami, Issun called Amaterasu "Ama-chan" for short. Yay random trivia! Hahaha Yeah, I like using Thunder Edge the most, as well as the Glaive; which is funny because in Okami I used a double Reflector combo for almost the entire game. Hahaha Ammy doesn't do well against online spammers though (argh, so annoying!)... but that's what I have Dante for. His Down, Down, S move helps quite a lot in those situations.

Veil of mist is done with..almost like a small Zig zag motion in the lower quarter portion of the analogue stick, you know what I mean? Like, it would be hard to show you.
Oh wow, yeah, was that a dinosaur, it was just so ridiculous and hard to follow, like...what? And they always seem to do cameo appearences in those. Also, I figured about the Ama thing, that sounds like it would be right.
I like switching a lot, when I'm doing well, I use the Glaive, since that was my favorite in game, then when I need to make a comeback, I switch to the Beads and lay it down, get some shots in, then whip them with an air attack or two. I have trouble with the rhythem of the Reflector, like it just has odd timing, and using the Solar Flare move, where you block and counter with that throw move thing. I find that hard to do.
However, I think that attack could work against online spammers. Between that and the super fast bead shot. Block a cheap attack and counter. And Dante seems like he would be a spammer killer, him and Deadpool.

Veil of Mist is in the manual... I just have problems with some motions of the analog stick is all... Probably doesn't help that I'm playing with an injured thumb. Hahahaha In one of my first online fights I actually used the beads so much that I though my opponent gave up on attacking me. Then he killed me with a level 3 hyper and I lost. Awww. I haven't won a battle online yet. Well yeah, there's the possibility to make Dante a spammer, but he's very versatile like Ammy which is why I use him. But I guess if I start comboing with Dante and then quickly switch over to Ammy and have her attack with with that ice attack and then quickly switch back over to Dante to continue comboing, I could easily make myself very annoying. Hahahaha

Awwww... how did that happen :niggasad: But yeah, you need to practice the actual motion. When I first learned the motion, I just sat there with the controller after I first did my first Shoryuken, and just practiced the motion, with the game off at some points, just practicing doing that motion. Learning Execution is key, if you can't do at least most of your moves on command, it's like going into war without knowing how to use any of your weapons. Once you figure it out for sure, practice any move that uses the dragon combo, over and over until it becomes second nature.
Awwwww... Well, forget online, ha ha ha h ha, It's just too hard for most people. Heres an idea of how ridiculously good most people are online. I am like 20 times better than anyone I know at Super Street Fighter IV. There is no one I know in real life that can beat me without me letting them win. Online, I have about a 20% win percentage. Ha ha ha ha ha. People are just TOO good online. You'll start getting wins with practice though, don't worry!
Yeaah, the key is coming up with a more versitle stratagy that you can change on the fly. Using their stratagies and skills as your gameplan and their enemy. Let them make mistakes and capitalize when they do, then you take the upper hand from there. Try to learn all the moves of your favorite characters and learn how to put them together. And regular attacks can be very valueable, putting them together effectively into combo attacks and special moves and stuff. getting into that flow is key
Have you tried missions yet? Thats a great way to learn moves and stuff.

I have a cut going down my thumb from my nail and it hurts to put pressure on it, but it's impossible to play games without your left thumb, unless you're playing Flower or something. Oh I was just going online to get some of the trophies. There's one trophy to get 5 online wins in a row, so I'll get that one someday. Hahahaha I actually love the trophy list in MvC3, because you actually feel like you're getting awarded, such as for beating Arcade mode on the hardest difficulty or getting so many player points. I got 3 trophies at the same time when I beat Arcade mode for the first time. Wooo. Yeah, I've been doing the missions. I can do them well enough until I get into the longer combos.

Oww, sounds painful. Poor you.. So true though, Ha a h haha. I actually got glass in my right thumb the other day, and it's been sore ever since, which makes driving games a pain, since you need to switch between pressure sensitive buttons quickly.
Yeah, they have a ton in that game, I've heard this game is super easy when it comes to trophies. But this is one of those types of games where trophies are actually helpful and useful, since they increase playability dramatically and actually force you to get better at the game itself. They are truely useful. I remember playing at Colby's and getting like 6 trophies in one fight, not even vs Galactus, but just some random fight in Arcade mode.
Yeah, I got stuck at this one long combo, where you have to like duck then jump and do an air combo from the ground. I guess your not wasting your time with Simple mode and jumping straight into Normal mode, awesome. I can't wait until I get it so we can train together, and not have it fail like last time, ha ha ha
