Graaah
Perhaps the only game you can play for 3 hours and not get anywhere. I have 46 playable characters, and none of them are dying on my watch!
Gotta love that OST though!
AETHER
;D
I dunno I was kinda bored. Hahahahaha

It's a strategy game that involves an axes-swords-lances rock-paper-scissors system, while also including a magic version of wind-fire-thunder with light be neutral. There are tons of different classes as well, with mounted and flying units having the most maneuverability and while, likewise, armored units hit like a truck but have a hard time moving. Character deaths are permanent, which adds to the challenge of the game; especially if you're like me and lost your mage at the very start and couldn't beat enemies that had to be killed with magic.

Though I got to keep Rhys protected all the time since the AI's all like: "Hey look, there's a healer we can go MASSACRE!" in which they surround him and stab him to death.

I always need to babysit him.

So wait, do they play rock paper sissors on the battlefield or something? I don't quite understand, definatly sounds like a handheld game though

I'm playing it on the gamecube...
It's a rock-paper-scissors like system, sorry if I didn't explain it well... it's a triangle of effectiveness, like pokemon does with types.
Axes beat lances, lances beat swords, swords beat axes. With magic users, fire beats wind, wind beats thunder, and thunder beats fire; light magic is unaffected by the triangle.

Ohh, thats awesome, thats a pretty awesome system, very simple yet interesting, it reminds me of the minigame from FFVII for defending Fort Condor
And nice, good old gamecube, it's good that history was kind to that system

So what, can you change your units or are they stuck as is the whole game?

You can change them.
Though I only have so many flying units. >_>

Damn
Couldn't you do archers or something? Oh wait... You said only axes, spears, and swords, damn.

No, there's archers too. I guess I forgot about them eariler.
The thing is, eventually you get reinforced by a wyvern rider yet she always misses which makes the "reinforcement" useless! Grah.

Ah, I don't know what that means, but it sounds bad

Post by pichubro on Jan 16, 2010 18:21:37 GMT -5
It means, whats the point of reinforcing me if I end up having to save the reinforcement? -_-;

How do you get the reinforcements? Like does it come from being an archer or is it just something that happens in that one particular battle?

It just happens in particular battles, though late in the game there IS a character how can call in reinforcements at will.

Ah, right
Do they count against your 46, or can you just let them die?

I'm pretty sure they're just fodder.

Yeah, how ridiculous

Post by pichubro on Jan 16, 2010 19:37:23 GMT -5
Not as ridiculous as my strategies of failing. Hahahahaha
I have to re-play missions like 10 times before I have a good idea about how to not let anyone die. xP
