So yeah, basically the opposite of Team ICO; SE seems to release three games a month. I've been picking up a few RPGs this year to tide me over as I await new games to that I'm really looking forward to. I mostly pick up these games based on trailers and/or the cover art. Today, I went through every game I bought this year. Of the (I think) 8 titles I bought this year, 4 were by Square Enix. (Admittedly, Chrono Trigger is actually a re-released game developed by SQUARE... ) I like SE, for they have their gems every once in a while, but they seem to want to overtake the whole industry of RPGs. I even realized that a few other RPGs I was thinking of buying turned out to more SE games. There would be no problem with this... Except that a few of the RPGs are getting pretty mediocre in one way or another... They seem to most of their time and effort on Final Fantasy games. Ex. on mediocrity: In the game Infinite Undiscovery, the voice acting is ear-cringing, and there are consist lip-sync problems. Even more bizarre, many cutscenes are void of voices altogether, like they were trying to save money or something. I DO love the storyline and the battle system, but I excepted more out of the dubbing; it's not like it's a new thing that needs to be learned. :/ Discuss thoughts on Square Enix.

Right now one can compare Square Enix to Kanye West. Back in it's prime it was incredibe, releasing good games at a high rate of speed that simply no one can top. Now a days it's still OK here and there, but now they kinda just do it for the money, not giving a solid effort while interupting annoying white girls occationally for the old school fans

If it wasn't for Final Fantasy, they probably would have to produce better games to keep an income going. Except, Final Fantasy will never die, so SE will continue to produce games for a quick buck.

Pretty much, it's a shame too. They should do it for their love of games, not for the money. All the good people are retiring, it sucks.

I felt this was the right thread for this post
I noticed that there are a lot of different kinds of Final Fantasy fans out there. Like different fanboy types that get kind of diverse. I mean everybody knows the crazy FFVII fanboy, the kind that ruins it for everybody, but there are some other pretty bad types out there I notice. Theres the FFVIII fanboy, they are kinda like red headed stepchildren of the series, hating VII for no reason and perfering VIII also for no reason, they are kinda weird, probably just trying to look cool and be different or something, kinda like Squall in a way. Then theres the VI fanboy, who is a little more intelegent, but still crazy, like the Kefka fanboys are almost as insane as the Sephiroth fanboys, it's pretty scary. Then theres the pre-IV fanboys, who have a vendetta against VII because they beileve that VII ruined old school RPGs, as if they have this insane beilef that RPGs would have stayed in 2D forever if it weren't for VII or something. There are other groups I think, but these ones are the ones I see the most. It's hard to find intelegent players of the series anymore, like me, Tim, and Lacemaker, who can acknowledge that VII is the best and not be insane about it, and still like all the other games a lot as well. It's a lot more complex than I thought

I've offically found the dividing line of when Square Enix started to suck
When it became Square Enix
When it was Squaresoft, everything was awesome, especially the name
When it became Square Enix, what did it do? It made FF X-2
Yeah. Exactly.
