so this morning my computer wouldnt start, and after trying to fix it i decided i might as well just get a new one, mine was variously dysfunctional and i'd have needed to get a new one within the year anyway probably. SO my new one is a samsung series 5 something or other with:
750gb harddrive, 6gig ram, 2.6ghz, 15.1" screen, very light, probably good battery life as a result. decent screen. windows 8, which was HORRIFYING at first, but after getting used to it its not TOO bad. also it looks nice.

Did they even give you the options to go with Windows 7 at the store? Windows 8 is just Zune software exploded all over a desktop. >~>

So wait, your computer didn't work in the morning, so on the same day you buy a computer? Wow. You clearly ain't workin at the grocery store no more, ha ha ha
Ehh, for $520, not bad stuff. Actually, I didn't know Samsung was in the Laptop business, I thought they just did TVs. Not incredible stats, but enough to get by on what you do I'm sure. Windows 8 though, screw that. You could have probably got a Windows 7 machine on clearance for cheaper. BUT I BET THATS NOT A BIG CONCERN FOR YOU!
Hah a ha ha ha, wow. And you can function with that?
I bet you would sound HILARIOUS speaking French, ha ha ha
Looked at pictures of the laptop. Pretty generic, but it looks like everyone has transferred over to Articulated keyboards now. Vaios was doin that before it was cool

Windows 8 isn't horrible, it's just obviously meant for a touch screen tablet than a monitor. Windows 7 works just as well without forcing anyone to learn a new way to use their computer.

Riiiiiiiiiiight. I guess that's better. Where are you working now, if you are?
Yeah, Windows 8 is clearly an even numbered Windows Release. Though with that ugly Windows Phone-esque look, I have little hope for Windows 9. Unless they go back to the Vista/7 look, or something similar, I'm gonna hate it. I should probably buy a Windows 7 Install disk so I have something I can use next time I have to buy a computer.

Well, here's my theory with Windows 8.
Microsoft saw how popular tablets and touch screens were getting. When Apple released the iPad, they already had an OS to work with: the iPhone OS. So Microsoft then made Windows Phone and Windows 8 to 'ease' people into using their tablet, and their new Xbox.
Zune had the best touchscreen software I have ever used, even when comparing it to Sony and Apple. Know why it worked? You clicked text to browse through the thing, not a bunch of icons and swipes. I think the dude wo made it died or something (from what I heard); he had a talent for user interfaces!

Ugggggggggh, Does the Xbox have to ruin EVERYTHING!?
I think it is flat out terrible. It's ugly, and just isn't intuitive to me. I remember when they were actually trying to push windows phone and their ACTUAL SALES PITCH basically was based around the idea that it had less features. Like somehow it was ruining peoples lives having access to millions of apps and stuff. IT EVEN FOUND A WAY TO RUIN THE PS STORE INTERFACE! WHY DOES ANYONE THINK THIS NEW LOOK IS SO GOOD! It's terrible and featureless. Sleek and Streamlined is different than featureless and artsy looking.
If it weren't for Windows 7 being so good, I might have had to become a total nerd and become proficient in Ubuntu or something.

Zune software is a lot like PS3's XMB menu, just text based. That's why it's good.

I'm looking for a video now to compare
Also, I just realized, your computer actually has a larger HDD than mine, Granted I sized down to get a stronger processor, but still. But I have a lot of other hard drives on my network to make up for it.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_exaNLdmXELike this? I still find it obnoxious. I am just physically repulsed by these kind of user interfaces, AND EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP USING AERIAL/CALIBRI FONT FOR EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT SEEM MORE "MINIMALIST"!!! I hate it!

Take for example this If I see someone holding a can of this stuff, I want to punch them in the face for no good reason But if they are holding a cup with this logo on it, I feel like I'm at a farmers market, and I like farmers markets. Mainly because they don't have these terrible new logos everywhere and still use machines from like, 15 years ago.

I wonder if this new faggoty minimalist fad was Pepsi's fault or Microsoft's.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those fags.
Still though, I thought they were simplier before they you know, became the man that they were once fighting.
Though I guess the point is we are talking about fake elegance. Something that none of these things have. Apple is the closest, but they are still WAY off.

Zune at the time had a better touch interface before Apple.
Apple had something right with the clickwheel though. I miss it!

youtu.be/etg1PcWJMFUIt is much faster and works way better than the touch screen. You go clockwise for down, counter clockwise for up. It has Play, Next, Back, and Menu buttons, and the middle button acts like a selection or enter button. You can also turn off the clicking sound. You can basically use your iPod with the clickwheel without having to look at the screen. I used to listen to my music from my Nano in my pocket without having to take it out.

OHHHHHH!! Clickwheel! I was thinking like a mouse scroll wheel or something, ha ha ha
I forgot about those. Though the wheel is good, the operation as a whole still left something to be desired. I had a lot of trouble turning my brothers off whenever he would fall asleep with it on. I'd just end up pressing stuff until it stopped making noise, ha ha
My brother smashed the screen on his, but had the menus memorized, so he could still use it pretty effectively without a screen. I think his was the original nano or something, the one before they were like single cast bodies, they were like, a shiney piece and then the color piece in the front with the screen.
Then when he found out in MGS4 that Snake carried the new Nano, he got that one too. My brother loved to spend money.
Do iPods still exist or have they been replaced by iPhones.

I THINK iPods still exist, but most people get iPhones because iPhones are basically iPods you can call people with.
